Yoshikawa Inn
In the historical atmosphere of Kyoto, enjoy tempura dishes using seasonal ingredients.
Restaurant Details
Yoshikawa runs both a tempura restaurant and a Japanese old style hotel. They started the business in 1952 as a hotel, and it is said that Paul McCartney stayed here before. The building is Sukiya-zukuri style which is one of the Japanese architectural styles based on a Japanese tea ceremony building, and was built in the early Taisho period. They have an old and beautiful garden on the premises, and you can feel tranquility and peacefulness even in the lively city of Kyoto.
Yoshikawa is famous as a hotel, but their tempura is also famous. If you have a counter seat, you can see the chef frying tempura in front of you. The crackling sound of frying tempura will stimulate your appetite. You can enjoy many kinds of ingredients including seasonal ones as tempura, then lastly “kakiage” tempura will be served. You can choose to eat the kakiage as Tendon or as Tencha (rice topped with tempura, dashi soup stock, and tea).
