If Emperor Showa dined at this ryotei, then you best believe it’s one of the best locations for traditional kaiseki cuisine.

Restaurant Details

This ryotei, a luxurious Japanese restaurant, was founded in 1882. Yoryutei is no doubt one of the best places in all of Japan to experience the true form of kaiseki — the fact that Emperor Showa himself dined here is proof enough that the quality of their cuisine is nothing short of spectacular.

Yoryutei pays extra attention to the ever-changing seasons of Japan. With every new one, the kaiseki menu changes as well. Each season’s course meal features the best of the time of the year. Don’t miss out on the fugu kaiseki that’s only available from October to March each year, when pufferfish is in season.

On top of kaiseki cuisine, Yoryutei also offers a course menu of shabu shabu featuring the highly-coveted Saga beef. If a lunch deal is what you’re looking for, this historically rich restaurant has one for that, too. Opt for the shokado bento where the components change by the season.
