XEX TOKYO / Teppanyaki An
One of three restaurants atop Daimaru Tokyo, Teppanyaki An is an intimate, upscale teppanyaki experience framed by a stunning backdrop of the city.
Restaurant Details
The 13th floor of the Daimaru Tokyo building is what can only be described by gourmets as paradise on earth. XEX TOKYO takes not one, not two, but three of the finest restaurant concepts and puts them together in a sprawling 880-sqm space.
Of this trinity, Teppanyaki An is the only one to simultaneously offer a stunning view of the Tokyo night skyline while still affording the intimacy of tableside grilling. Its grills are spacious, sweeping stainless steel arcs that give guests plenty of room to relax while still preserving a sense of closeness. XEX’s chefs are masters of the culinary art form, providing casual conversation while also effortlessly grilling up wagyu beef, fresh seafood and seasonal vegetables into courses that tantalize all five senses.
As is traditionally the case with teppanyaki, the beef is the centerpiece of the meal, but Teppanyaki An’s course menus also incorporate the specialties of Motoshiro Saito, founder of famed Western-style Japanese restaurant Shunkotei. Menu items like cheese miso fondue meet grilled wagyu beef, making for a deeply interesting dining experience.

A course menu bearing the restaurant’s name. Premium menu offerings like sauteed oyster and sea urchin, a seafood medley and vegetables with cheese miso fondue are grilled right before guests’ eyes. But the star of the menu by far is the Japanese spiny lobster or abalone teppanyaki — a difficult decision for seafood connoisseurs, but ultimately both options are a win.
