Sushi Acta
Escape the hustle and bustle of Osaka and enter a gourmand’s paradise at Sushi Acta, a hidden gem tucked away in the back alleys of the city.
Restaurant Details
Osaka’s nickname of tenka no daidokoro, meaning “the nation’s kitchen”, isn’t unearned: for centuries, it has cemented its reputation as Japan’s food paradise with its diverse food culture, which brings together some of the best cuisines from all over the country.
Embracing this spirit, Sushi Acta helps uphold this reputation by giving undivided attention to its sushi: hand-selected fish are carefully placed atop the restaurant’s red rice, which is then paired with a selection from the restaurant’s menu of rare sake.
Nestled in the crowded backstreets of Osaka’s Takatsuki City, the restaurant’s unassuming entrance is difficult to find. But sliding the door open, visitors are welcomed with a cozy interior occupied by a counter with seven seats, at which a single course is served.
The sushi chefs craft dishes with fresh seafood sourced from throughout the country and pair it with their red rice. Made with daiginjo sake and red vinegar; the rice’s signature red coloring is strikingly distinctive, and tastes just as good as it looks.
The restaurant radiates exclusivity, and appropriately, walk-in guests are not allowed; each seat must be reserved weeks in advance. That doesn't stop dozens of hungry gourmets from seeking out Acta's impeccable pairing of sushi and sake, though.
