Sugai
A top Yokohama kaiseki which uses the best seasonal ingredients, and serves up a very reasonable lunch deal that’s not easily beaten.
Restaurant Details
This Yokohama kaiseki restaurant serves an omakase (chef’s choice) meal featuring some of the best seasonal ingredients in the country. Expect delicious dishes such as wagyu beef with daikon radish and wasabi, or sea bream and bamboo shoots cooked in dashi stock.
There are some European elements which add interesting touches to the kaiseki format, such as the sorbet served between some courses. Although the exact dishes and ingredients change monthly, the crescendo is always a clay pot of rice and seasonal ingredients, followed by a fruit dessert.
Here you get a real taste of the freshness and variety of Japanese ingredients, with lovely use of seasonal leaves and petals to decorate the delicate dishes.
Only nine counter and six table seats are available, so booking ahead is imperative if you want to try this delicious traditional food for yourself.
