If you or anyone in your group is a big eater, this is the noodle shop for you. Tsurutontan is a Tokyo udon noodle shop which is famous for their gigantic bowls of thick wheat flour noodles!
This branch is one of a few around Tokyo. Their first shop opened in Osaka in 1989 and now they’re one of the most stylish and best places to get a bowl of quality udon noodles. They offer a range of unusual options like Hakata Mentaiko Cream Udon, which has a creamy pink spicy noodle soup. Tenzaru no Oudon is one for the summer months — a bowl of cold udon served on ice, with dipping sauce, egg, pickles, and a mortar and pestle to grind your sesame seeds
As if the portions weren’t enough by themselves, you also get two free noodle refills included in the price. You can either treat that as a challenge, or a nice way to mop up the last delicious bit of broth in your bowl.
