Sobadokoro Mondokoro is the only soba shop in Nambucho, Tottori Prefecture. Here you can savor handmade Izumo soba, one of Japan’s three famous soba dishes. The Izumo soba noodles here have a chewy and mochi-mochi texture with a rich buckwheat flavor.
This restaurant is located in a renovated traditional folk house, so you can enjoy a relaxing and calm atmosphere.
There are 17 kinds of soba on the menu at Sobadokoro Mondokoro, such as tempura soba, tororo-soba, and soba teishoku (comes with soba, okowa rice, and soba-toro). One of their signature dishes is the tempura warigo soba (1,100 yen), which is served in a three-tiered lacquerware box. Warigo soba is one of the local delicacies in Izumo, Shimane prefecture, located next to Tottori prefecture.
Another signature dish at Sobadokoro Mondokoro is aigamo soba (soba with sliced smoked duck meat, 1200 yen). This is limited to 10 servings a day.
