The delicious and tender meat at this Azabujuban shop will blow all of your mutton assumptions out of the water.

Restaurant Details

The quirky name is more than matched by the offbeat interior of this Azabujuban roast mutton restaurant. At the long, stylish counter bar, a life-sized statue of a sheep cheekily peeks up over the back of a stool to get a look at what’s going on.

What it sees served up here every night is mutton and lamb in the “Genghis Khan” (or “Jingisukan”) style of grilling. This cooking method will show you the mutton in a different light, far from its reputation for being tough and less-than-fragrant.

Here they get it very fresh, then cook it in a method that breaks down the muscle fibers, leaving it much more tender than usual. Popular dishes include the mutton curry, lotus root fried with mutton fat, lamb steak, and offal cuts.
