Restaurant Details

The best beef in Japan.

The best beef in the world.

That's the only kind of beef claimed to be available at "Boss" Tanaka Satoru’s meat atelier in Nagoya, Aichi — Setsugekka Tanaka Satoru, named after the traditional Japanese aesthetic combination of snow, moon and flowers, as well as the man himself.

Chef Tanaka Satoru is a name vaunted in the restaurant circuit for being one of Japan’s wagyu masters: a true connoisseur responsible for opening over 20 wagyu beef specialty restaurants across Japan. As such, only the best is served at Setsugekka Tanaka Satoru: Kobe beef that comes right from the source, Hyogo Prefecture. This comes in various cuts, from harami skirt steak all the way to chateaubriand.

Three standard course menus, ranging in length and extravagance, offer guests a taste of several different culinary styles in one meal. The restaurant also has an a la carte menu, offering Korean-inspired dishes, sides and salads, as well as an exclusive omakase course, specially crafted by the chef.

Bottle service at Setsugekka features wines carefully chosen by the in-house sommelier to pair with Chef Tanaka's cuisine. Rich, golden lighting and refined table settings invite guests to luxuriate over a few glasses of wine and wagyu in the heart of Nagoya.
