Otafuku
One of the longest-running oden stew restaurants in Tokyo, where you can try all the classics along with delicious new inventions.
Restaurant Details
Oden is one of the most nostalgic dishes for a lot of Japanese people. This stewed dish features dozens of different ingredients simmered in a rich golden broth for hours, then served up piece by piece.
Where better to sample this hearty Japanese cuisine for yourself than at a restaurant which has been serving it for over 100 years? Otafuku is just such a place! After walking up the traditional-looking pathway on the approach flanked by greenery and paper lanterns, you’ll enter a modern Japanese interior filled with the smell of simmering stew.
Alongside the traditional oden favorites, they offer seasonal dishes like firefly squid and fresh spring rolls. Year-round creative additions include a tied package of tofu skin filled with shiitake mushrooms, mochi, and green onions. Even though they’re been running for over 100 years, they never get complacent — always coming with exciting new dishes in the oden style.
There are only 13 counter seats and a handful of tables available, so be sure to book ahead to secure a spot at one of the best oden restaurants in Tokyo.
