Restaurant Details

With an emphasis on quality work and gentle creativity in traditional Japanese cuisine, Kourakuan sets up by Lake Biwa — a perfect setting for a peaceful and contemplative dining experience.

Founded over twenty years ago, the multi-talented owner Hiroyuki Masuda used his past experience as a chef in numerous established restaurants to open up his own. Valuing the basics but not bound by any framework, Masuda set off to present seasonal ingredients in the best form possible.

Carefully paired with a selection of sake from Shiga Prefecture, including ones from Takeuchi Sake Brewery and Kitajima Brewery, the essence of Japan is captured in the realization of a complete, traditional meal at this restaurant.
