Seikaiha Koshunoya
Fresh Awaji Island produce, rare Japanese alcohols and one of the best ocean views in the country come together at this seaside restaurant near Kobe.
Restaurant Details
One of the hotspots of Awaji Island’s northwestern coast is the restaurant collective Seikaiha. Home to several different restaurants that specialize in different cuisines, visitors are drawn to Seikaiha for a dining experience with one of the best ocean views in all of Japan.
Koshunoya is the destination of choice for wine and sake connoisseurs. The restaurant’s collection is among the most extensive in the nation, with spirits from over 100 breweries all over Japan assembled in its cellar. Carefully selected for maximum aroma and flavor, each variety of sake, shochu, plum wine and even Okinawan awamori in Koshunoya’s collection is aged for a minimum of 10 years.
But it’s not just wines to look forward to in Koshunoya. Awaji Island’s famed produce takes front and center in Koshunoya’s course menus. From beef tagliata to sea bream confit, each dish is meticulously thought out for maximum compatibility with the restaurant’s wine and sake offerings.
Guests have the option of sinking into the plush sofa seating to put their feet up and relax. But it’s the wildly popular second-floor counter seats that sell out the fastest: directly in front of a seaside window, diners can drink in both the sight of the sun sinking beneath gently rolling waves, as well as their spirit of choice.
The freshest seafood, meat and produce from Awaji Island come together in this course menu, meant to be savored with a breathtaking view of the sun setting beneath the Seto Inland Sea waves.
