This traditional Japanese restaurant in Osaka is on a streak, featuring in the Michelin Guide eight years running. Once you visit for yourself it’s easy to see why. The traditional setting is quiet and relaxed, the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful, contemplative cuisine of Japan.
Ajikitcho Horie is named after another famous traditional restaurant, with permission from the owners, who had faith in the original owner to do the title justice when he first opened for business in 1972. Nowadays his son, Ryusuke Nakatani, runs the show. He maintains the same level of excellence as his father.
He cooks with a very local ethos, aiming to represent and enrich Osakan dining culture in everything he cooks. It’s not all about tradition, however. He also has a very forward-thinking attitude which means he is more than happy to accommodate for any particular dining requirements you might have (just be sure to mention it at the time of reservation).
The restaurant even serves a special “Muslim-friendly” set menu, with no pork or pork derivatives included. Please note that this does not mean that the restaurant is Halal certified, only that the chef assures the absence of pork products in this menu.
With such an international attitude, it’s easy to see why Ajikitcho Horie is seen as one of the top ambassadors in Osaka for both the local and national cuisine.
