About an hour north of Hiroshima City by car lies Miyoshi, a historical town that may be well-known to locals but has remained largely unexplored by visitors. In this experience, your host will take you by car from Hiroshima Station to the tranquil streets of Miyoshi for an authentic Japanese cultural experience that includes a traditional tea ceremony and an exciting wine tasting.
Engage your senses in a tea ceremony in the traditional tatami room of a 200-year-old prefectural historic site, followed by a yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) lunch and a tour of Miyoshi Winery, complete with a wine tasting. The winery has won domestic and international wine competitions, and its wines were also served at the reception for the G7 Hiroshima Summit in 2023, a testament to their impeccable quality. Enjoy this unique wine-tasting experience before returning to Hiroshima Station by car.
Experience flow:
-Your host will pick you up from Hiroshima Station and take you to Miyoshi by chartered car. You'll be accompanied by a guide-interpreter licensed by the Hiroshima Prefectural Government. Enjoy the view from the window as the landscape changes from urban to rural (~1.5 h)
-Shop for traditional Japanese confectioneries at a local shop (~30 min)
-Visit Umpekikyo, a prefectural historic site with 200 years of history. Experience a tea ceremony in a traditional tatami room overlooking the garden (~1 h)
-Visit Miyoshi Winery and enjoy a yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) lunch accompanied by wine to complement your meal (~1 h)

Remarks
Guests are required to remove their shoes to participate in the tea ceremony. Being barefoot is not allowed, so please bring socks.
Hotel pick-up and drop-off within Hiroshima City center can be arranged upon request. Please inquire directly with the host upon booking.
