Experience Details
Ramen: the slurpy noodles swimming in steaming, flavorful broth might be the first thing you eat after you land in Japan — and the last thing you dream of before you depart. With endless variations, from miso to soy sauce, and rich pork bone broths simmered for hours, these massive bowls of noodles are usually paired with gyoza, Japan’s beloved dumplings filled with meat and vegetables.
If you are a ramen enthusiast, what better way to convey your love for this iconic dish than diving into a hands-on cooking class in Osaka? This experience isn’t just about making the process fun; it’s about ensuring recipes can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of their dietary needs.
Bringing around 10 years of experience in the food industry and yakuzen (Japanese holistic cooking), your ramen- and gyoza-making instructor is passionate about food for the body and soul. While traditional ramen and gyoza can be unsuitable for vegan, gluten-free or halal diets, this class offers original recipes that cater to a wide range of dietary restrictions without compromising on flavor.
You’ll learn to prepare two types of ramen broths. The default will be a savory chicken-based broth, but vegan and vegetarian alternatives are available. Vegan gyoza and noodles, for example, won’t contain eggs, with flavors derived from mushrooms, vegetables, kelp, and soy products. There’s also a Buddhist diet option free from garlic, chives, onion, and leek.
At the end of the class, enjoy your meal with green tea and drinks alongside your host and fellow classmates. Expect plenty of good conversation and a relaxed atmosphere as you savor your creations!
Dietary restrictions:
