Experience Details
Japanese dishes are a feast for all senses: their intricate presentation and vibrant colors are nothing short of an art form. Have you ever thought of trying your hand at making beautifully presented Japanese-style dishes yourself? In this private cooking class with local instructors in Fukuoka, you can learn to make two delicious and visually appealing dishes: a flower-bouquet-inspired hot pot and kabuto-shaped spring rolls alongside sushi. After your hard work, you will sit down to enjoy a delicious meal with side dishes prepared by your host and Japanese sake.
Your class will begin by explaining the ingredients and recipes over a refreshing cup of tea. You will then start arranging the ingredients in the hot pot dish to look like a flower bouquet. For this, you will cut an assortment of fresh vegetables with a peeler and arrange them beautifully on a platter. Following the hot pot, your host will help you shape and fry kabuto harumaki (spring rolls shaped like a kabuto hat). These crispy bites are a family favorite, and their cute shape is almost too irresistible to eat!
Next, it will be time to prepare your sushi meal. You can choose between three kinds of sushi: maki rolls, temari sushi, and masu sushi (please specify your choice upon booking). Maki are rolls filled with toppings, rice, and seaweed on the outside, temari are cute and round bite-sized pieces, while masu sushi is rice with toppings served in a small wooden box. If you make masu sushi, you will enjoy appetizers, sake, and tempura before making sushi. Tasting two kinds of sake is included no matter the sushi of choice. Once you've finished your meal, you will wrap the experience with matcha and traditional Japanese sweets. Remember to take photos of your delightful foods before eating them all!
