Step into the world of wagashi craftsmanship in this fun, hands-on class that includes a tea ceremony featuring single-origin matcha.
In this class, your instructor will teach you to make two types of wagashi: higashi and nerikiri. Higashi are dry sweets made from wasanbon, a fine Japanese sugar produced traditionally in Kagawa and Tokushima Prefectures. Press this delicate dough before forming decorative shapes like maple leaves or cherry blossoms. Next, dive into the art of nerikiri using glutinous rice flour and sweetened bean paste from Kyoto. Shape nerikiri into seasonal motifs using special tools and let your creativity shine.
