Umeda Sushi Miyagawa
A famed Shinjuku restaurant sets up a new branch in downtown Osaka, where several private rooms offer a quiet, sophisticated sushi experience.
Restaurant Details
Sushi Miyagawa’s success in Shinjuku has led to its expansion to downtown Osaka, where some of the finest restaurants in the city make their home. It’s there that Umeda Sushi Miyagawa fits right in, a short walk from Higashi-Umeda Station.
For Kansai sushi lovers, its presence is a godsend. Umeda Sushi Miyagawa possesses many of the hallmarks that make most Edomae sushi restaurants in Tokyo great: the chef goes to the market to personally select fresh ingredients every morning, a practice that he brings with him from his storied career in luxury hotel restaurants. The rice and vinegar are also selected with a discerning eye.
But just as notable is its sake selection: with a wide variety of local sake to choose from, sake connoisseurs are spoilt for choice, especially with the head chef always on hand to give recommendations based on the sushi menu on offer that day.
Even though it is based in one of the busiest parts of Osaka’s bustling Umeda district, Sushi Miyagawa takes as much pride in its private rooms as it does its counter seats. Visitors reeling from the crush of the crowd can find solace in one of its many rooms, where guests can take their time to enjoy each handcrafted nigiri.
