Udon Baka Ichidai
Traditional udon with a hint of Italian at this top Kagawa eatery.
Restaurant Details
Affordable and delicious — isn't that what everyone is looking for in good udon? Baka Ichidai promises quality and prices which satisfy both these conditions. This udon-ya is said to never serve noodles that have been boiled for ten minutes or more, so every bowl of udon is at its al-dente best.
Located close to Hanazono Kotoden Station, this udon shop’s bestselling dish is the kama-butter. Unlike the usual method of boiling the noodles in advance then letting it cool down before boiling again, the noodles for kama-butter udon are boiled only when ordered, maintaining the flavor and freshness. They are then topped with black pepper and butter, with an egg on the side. The egg is to be broken on the udon and seasoned with Baka Ichidai's special soy sauce.
There’s more than a hint of Italian carbonara in this dish, so fans of this classic pasta will fall in love with this fantastic udon bowl. The shop even offers udon as a souvenir, so you can try your hand at recreating this authentic Kagawa delicacy at home!
