Restaurant Details

Hidden among offices and residential buildings between Nihonbashi and Ningyocho, the warmly lit, wooden French bistro Trompette might seem a little out of place. But it’s precisely for its friendly, inviting atmosphere that it has enjoyed a constant flow of regular visitors — which has only grown ever since its receiving a Bib Gourmand award in the Michelin Guide Tokyo 2023.

A one-man operation run solely by Chef Yamada Kenji, Trompette is known for its heaping portions of hearty French fare. Guests can glance at the blackboard for a list of the daily specials, or choose from the well-trodden ground of the a la carte menu. Some dishes are adventurous, others familiar; snow crab risotto and couscous salad with Tasmanian smoked salmon sit alongside French classics like duck confit and salmon en croute.
