Taketomijima
This Tokyo izakaya presents the best alcohol and food that Okinawa has to offer, and holds the same chilled-out atmosphere inside.
Restaurant Details
Named after an idyllic island in Okinawa which is surrounded by azure blue seas, this izakaya seeks to bring a slice of the sunshine to Tokyo. The interior design represents traditional houses from the eponymous island, with the assorted paraphernalia of a lazy tropical life.
The key fixtures of Okinawa feature too, like its famous Orion beer. You can get this and a host of other drinks on an incredible free-flow deal which last for several hours. If you like the stronger stuff, you’ll be happy to know that the all-you-can-drink deal includes awamori — a traditional spirit native to the region. They serve the kusu variety, which is aged for 3 years for a fuller flavor.
As for the food, it makes use of imported ingredients from Okinawa like sea grapes and pork. You can sample the most famous dish from the region, goya champuru stir fry, along with unusual dishes like goat sashimi!
