Restaurant Details

Tachiguisushi Sushikawa’s standing-only counter reflects chef-owner Hayakawa Daisuke’s desire to remind diners of old Tokyo, back when sushi was a simple street food. Having grown weary of the recent upscaling trend in the world of sushi, Chef Hayakawa embraces a straightforward approach: exceptional seafood atop perfectly seasoned sushi rice.

There are no genre-blurring techniques or extravagant ingredients — just classic, high-quality sushi. This dedication, along with a team of vibrant staff, has earned Sushikawa a loyal local following and caught the attention of Michelin critics, who bestowed on it the Michelin Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide Tokyo 2025.

You won’t find a hybrid of kaiseki-style drinking snacks or tempura, either. No-frills nigiri are crafted daily by sushi masters, each day featuring a different menu. Guests can choose from various set courses, some accompanied by an array of side dishes. The seafood, sourced from across Japan, includes marinated mackerel from Kagoshima, fatty tuna from Nagasaki, horse mackerel from Kumamoto and boiled conger eel from Miyagi.

To complement the sushi, the drink menu offers over 20 types of sake, allowing diners to find the perfect pairing for their meal.
