Restaurant Details
Some might not understand why people go to great lengths for fancy sushi. After all, rice with raw seafood seems so simple. They might not even be able to tell the difference between the average ones and luxury options. But the real draw of great sushi, besides the dishes themselves, is the incredible experience itself. What better place to get a taste of this other than Sushi Tsubomi.
Dining in a semi-formal setting facing the open-concept kitchen, with dishes prepared by well-known chef Makoto Maruyama is a luxurious yet accessible insight into the world of sushi. By the end of it, you'll not only be filled with some of the freshest sushi in the whole country but also knowledge on the culture, history, and meaning of it all.
Sushi Tsubomi uses the exact same ingredients as Japan's best Michelin-starred sushi restaurant, so you'll get to enjoy the highest quality of seafood and rice at only half the price. Fish and other seafood are selected based on their freshness daily, and combined with the carefully prepared rice (seasoned with different types of vinegar and salt) to bring you exceptionally tasty sushi.
Look out for the seasonal scallop freshly gathered from Iwate Prefecture and prepared with chili pepper, and icefish that can only be enjoyed from mid-winter till spring. Other classic dishes of Sushi Tsubomi include mackerel, sea urchin, and anago, which can be enjoyed all year round.
