A mix of traditional Edomae sushi with a modern twist, enjoy a full omakase “chef’s choice” course made with fresh fish and produce.

Restaurant Details

Previously called Sushi Sanpo until January 2024, Sushi Karin is located on a small, quiet street near Nishi-Azabu crossing. The interior of the restaurant has a traditional Japanese atmosphere with modern accents, and cozy counter seating.

The chefs prepare Edomae-style sushi, but add a modern twist to the classic preparation to bring out the best flavor of each fish. Red vinegar is typically used in Edomae sushi, but at Sushi Karin, they combine three types of vinegar to create their own ideal sushi rice. This combination of old and new makes for flavorful dishes that are both delicious and artful.

At Sushi Karin, they select the highest quality fish, vegetables, and other ingredients from the market every morning. In addition to using the best quality materials, they always try to emphasize the flavor of each type of seafood by fusing the traditional techniques of Edomae sushi with contemporary ideas. Sushi Karin strives to give guests the best possible sushi experience through impeccable technique, premium ingredients, artisanal sake, and warm hospitality.

Just up the road from Gonpachi Nishi-Azabu, it's easily one of the Nishi-Azabu area's premier sushi restaurants, and an easy recommendation for anyone looking either for a creative interpretation of sushi, or a masterful display of traditional skill.
