Restaurant Details
Opened in the summer of 2023, Sushi & Tempura Mogana Okachimachi began with a wish for guests to enjoy delicious and reasonably priced sushi and tempura. This wish was built into not only the ethos of the restaurant but even into the name. “Mogana” is an old Japanese word that means “to wish for something”.
The restaurant delivers on this wish by serving tempura and sushi made with fresh ingredients and a price tag that’s easy to stomach. While tempura sushi is a mainstay at many sushi restaurants, it’s less common to serve the fried dish alongside sushi rather than in it.
Sushi & Tempura Mogana Okachimachi focuses on both separately, allowing them to provide the best possible experience for both dishes. Bite into the rich and crunchy tempura before diving into refreshing sushi for a wonderful combination of textures and flavors.
Intimate counter seating is available to soak in the sights and smells of each dish as they are prepared. Table seating is also on offer to seat bigger groups comfortably. Large windows that adorn both floors let in the energy of the nearby shopping streets.
Conveniently located just a short walk from Okachimachi Station in Ueno, a wealth of attractions are just outside the restaurant’s front door. The Ameyoko Shopping Street and the expansive Ueno Park, which houses the Tokyo National Museum and the Ueno Zoo, are all just a short stroll away. Take a break from your adventures around the lively Ueno district with a delicious and reasonably priced sushi and tempura meal.
