Steak Maruyama
Entering its third decade, the long-established Steak Maruyama continues to devote its teppanyaki grill to Hokkaido’s beef and seafood.
Restaurant Details
Wrapped around greenery on the foot of Mt. Maruyama, Steak Maruyama is a delicious salute to Hokkaido, churning up teppanyaki classics without stasis, even as it enters its third decade.
And judging by its steady stream of regular patrons, Steak Maruyama isn’t just surviving — it’s thriving, becoming a household name for those coming in anniversaries and dates. It’s attributed to the restaurant's commitment to abundance, consistently serving an excellent roster of proteins ranging from Ezo Tajima beef, Okhotsk Abashiri beef and Ikeda beef to ocean-harvested Omar lobsters and crabs.
The space has a definite high-dining feel, but the teppan grill pitted on each table also means that there’s enough fun and action to loosen up. Guests jump right into the teppanyaki experience as white-jacketed chefs expertly work with local Hokkaido foodstuffs, grilling and serving dishes directly from the iron to the plate. For its menu, emphasis is placed on the A4-grade kuroge wagyu course, which would have scored diners with a full set of appetizers, soup, desserts and drinks.
It’s a local gem that delivers on all fronts: great food, great service and a great ambiance that keeps guests coming back for more.
