Shinmonzen Yonemura
One of the most exciting chefs in Kyoto, cooking up fine French-Japanese fusion food in the heart of Gion.
Restaurant Details
Masayasu Yonemura is an idiosyncratic culinary master. His self-named style is a unique fusion of Japanese and French cuisine which has excited gourmands at home and abroad since he first opened up his store in Kyoto’s historic Gion district.
Surrounded by a beautiful modern interior — which draws upon traditional Japanese aesthetics without feeling dated — diners can enjoy French culinary techniques applied to Japanese ingredients in style.
The long counter has the best seats in the house for watching this maverick master at work. However, if you require some extra privacy for a business or romantic occasion, a booth seat is also available on the first floor, and the second floor houses a cozy space with tables, a fireplace, artistic wall hangings, and original features which reveal the history running through the building.
