Ristorante La Primula
With its reputation-defining tagliolini and a love for everything Venitian, experience Italian fine dining in Tokyo inspired by the canals of Venice.
Restaurant Details
The romance and the laid-back energy of Europe are alive in this compact eatery, hidden behind an unassuming wooden door in the quiet backstreets of Hiroo. Venetian glass and cesendello lamps wash the space in a scene of golden-hour Venice, made even more magical with carnival masks fixed on the cabinets. A counter sits only six, and a table is reserved for one group.
It’s an experience piloted by Chef Nigorikawa, who uses his training in northern Italy to produce a tasting menu as intimate as its setting.
Featured in the 2024 Michelin Guide, Ristorante La Primula blends the flavors of Italy with Japanese elegance. Local, carefully selected ingredients highlight the best of each season in a course menu served omakase-style, with the Nigorikawa choosing the dishes to showcase.
Like a warm, comforting greeting, Nigorikawa starts the course with homemade focaccia, pillowy and strong in olive oil. Next, house-kneaded tagliolini pasta — Ristorante La Primula’s game-changing dish — is brightened with zesty fruit tomatoes and topped with a generous serving of fresh Parmesan. Zucchini flowers, stuffed with mozzarella, are delicately fried to perfection. For a special touch, deer meat — traditionally reserved for special occasions in Italy — is roasted over charcoal.
Always delighted to personalize birthday messages on dessert plates, Nogirakwa acknowledges every special occasion. Pair the course with a wine from 50 bottles. From the starter to its dessert of creme caramel, the menu feels like the chef’s love letter to everything Venetian.
