Omen Ginkakuji
Tempura / Fried Foods
Have a special dining experience here in Omen Ginkakuji, with udon dipped in flavorful dashi broth and a seasonal pick of vegetables.
Restaurant Details
Kyoto has long been known for being the birthplace of some of the best udon noodle restaurants. Among them, Omen Ginkakuji offers you a brand new experience with udon that overturns the conventional take on this dish.
“Omen,” the name of the restaurant, is also the name of a unique style of udon from Isesaki, Gunma, where you can enjoy udon as “tsukemen” (dipping noodles). Thick but chewy noodles made from Japanese wheat are served along with a bowl of hot or cold dark concentrated dashi broth, and a special selection of “yakumi” (seasonal fresh vegetables; oftentimes scallion, ginger, carrots, spinach, or radish). Dip your yakumi into the broth and have a taste of the subtle extra layer of flavor in your dashi soup. Enjoy the refreshing meal with a little extra sesame seed!
The restaurant is located a few minutes away from Ginkakuji Station and is open from 11 AM to 9 PM everyday except for Thursdays. Both tatami seats and table seats are available.
