Restaurant Details
A single look through the window of Niku no Himaraya to Nomuno tells you all you need to know about the restaurant’s signature dish.
Named after the Japanese romanisation of the Himalayas mountain range, it’s every meat lover’s dream: an absolute mountain of beef. As impressive as the meat mountain is on Instagram feeds and TikTok reels, the giant hunk of beef is arguably just as impressive before it’s expertly sliced up by the restaurant’s staff. Guests can choose exactly how much meat they want to order, ranging from a modest 200g to up to a staggering 1kg of meat.
But such quantity doesn’t mean quality is compromised by any means. The most popular beef at the restaurant is premium Australian Angus beef, raised for at least 200 days on a diet of grain mixed with leftover grape lees from the wine-making process. This is said to remove any “gamey” smell that the beef may naturally have, and also gives it a particularly tender texture.
After being carved, the meat is then grilled on a beautiful hotplate of pink Himalayan rock salt — almost as beautiful as the smell of grilling meat that constantly fills the restaurant.
Good meat deserves good drinks, and the Shintomicho restaurant doesn’t disappoint: with more than 30 kinds of wines from all over the world, five different sake and shochu, as well as draft Sapporo Black Label, the all-you-can-drink plan is basically mandatory. It’s the perfect place to go after working up an appetite from a day of sightseeing around the Tsukiji or Ginza area.
With 12 items, the Standard Yakiniku Course contains two of the restaurant’s most popular dishes: the “meat Himalaya” and a selection of five different meats. All in all, this course offers a staggering 350 grams of meat — with more available as add-ons, of course. ※ Please note that the exact content of the menu is subject to change based on availability.
