Nagoya Sakae Sushitsu
This new sushi spot in Nagoya exemplifies the high standards and meticulous care that are hallmarks of traditional Japanese cuisine.
Restaurant Details
After cementing its presence in Tokyo and Osaka, the locally beloved sushi joint is now the exciting newcomer to Nagoya. The branch opens in 2022, located near the premise of the city’s notable landmarks — the Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER (also known as the Nagoya TV Tower) and the Aichi Prefectural Museum Of Art.
Coming in, the space’s layout subtly draws your gaze towards the blonde-wood linear counter, flanked by hand-crafted chairs. Situated behind this central feature are dedicated cubicles for private dining.
There’s the same commitment to delivering true Edomae sushi and using premium natural ingredients seen at its other locations. The chef is discreetly attentive in their service and intentional with their sushi making. The course progresses only when you finish the current dish. Each piece of nigiri is expertly hand-shaped and meant to be enjoyed slowly.
The owner personally selects seasonal fish each morning from the seafood market. The menu often includes unique selections like swordtip squid, grouper, yellowtail, and mantis shrimp that sit on top of sushi rice seasoned with red vinegar. The meal concludes with traditional Japanese desserts such as matcha ice cream and warabimochi.
