Le Bistrot Des Bleus
A young, dynamic crew serves old-school, home-cooked French dishes with a refreshing touch of bistro charm in this Michelin Bib Gourmand bistro.
Restaurant Details
Located inside Eat Play Works’ upmarket dining hall in Hiroo, Le Bistrot Des Bleus serves home-cooked French dishes supervised by renowned La Bonne Table chef Nakamura Kazunari, who wanted to reproduce the feeling he had when he first encountered the romance of French cuisine. When designing his concept, he scouted talents brimming with refreshing sensibility, which naturally led to a kitchen staffed by a young, dynamic crew with sommelier experience.
The “bleu,” meaning “blue,” refers to the first color on the French flag, symbolizing sincerity and liberty, and this color infuses the open-concept space. Above the counter, on the teal-painted wall, the phrase “belle découverte” (beautiful discovery) reflects Nakamura’s team’s ongoing journey of learning. Copper pans hanging in the kitchen and wooded chairs add a touch of Parisian bistro charm.
Forget haute cuisine — Nakamura embraces a straightforward approach with a menu centered on comforting recipes and hearty staples from across France. The oxtail is slow-stewed with red wine until the meat falls off the bone, accompanied by glazed carrots.
The lineup showcases regional specialties such as choucroute garnie (an Alsatian recipe of sauerkraut with sausages), pate en croute, homemade sausage and bouillabaisse. The element of surprise comes from his chilled corn soup, which features a hint of vanilla beans.
Meals can be accompanied by a large selection of wine, glass or bottle, a champagne glass or a Heartland beer. Doors open at 3 pm.
