La Biographie
Enjoy modern French cuisine with a Kyoto twist.
Restaurant Details
La Biographie is a simple yet modern French restaurant housed in a gorgeous, traditional townhouse in Kyoto. This well-respected Western restaurant's elegant interior has wide glass windows that give you full views of the well-decorated gardens.
The chef-owner, Masahiro Takimoto, presides over the kitchen here — one of Kyoto's only French restaurants to be awarded a Michelin star. He opened his own restaurant in order to be able to express himself fully, by selecting the best ingredients, and finding creative and original ways to cook them. A specific cooking method he's been using is roasting; he slow-roasts his ingredients, like duck, at a low temperature for a long duration of time so that the meat becomes soft and tender without losing its original aroma and taste.
With ingredients handpicked by Takimoto himself each day, the menu alters according to the components available for that day. Dishes always include pops of colors and surprising flavors. La Biographie is a perfect place to enjoy a Kyoto twist on authentic French cuisine.
