Kozasa
Uncover this gem of a sushi-ya for yourself, raved about by many a sushi connoisseur.
Restaurant Details
A diamond in the rough and ready streets of crowded Shibuya, this sushi-ya shouldn't be confused with the similarly-named one over at Ginza. This Shibuya eatery is cozily tucked away on the first floor of a tiny apartment complex and easy to miss — keep a lookout for the bright signage to not lose your way.
The L-shaped counter can hold only a handful of people but it just means the attention of the skilled chef is divided between fewer people. The atmosphere isn't tense at all — even with language barriers the chef is extremely friendly and communicates through the language he knows best: sushi.
With the level of professionalism and well put-together space, it's surprising that Kozasa is a one-man show. It takes a whole lot of time management and exceptional skill to maintain this level of service and presentation for ten people, so the chef at Kozasa has to be appreciated as a man at the top of his game.
