Kira Honten is no ordinary shabu shabu restaurant. It is one of the most highly regarded in not only its hometown, Saga, but also the rest of the country! The restaurant specializes in Saga beef and is run by Japan Agriculture, so rest assured the quality of meat will exceed all expectations you might have for wagyu beef.
Saga beef doesn’t only refer to the meat of the cattle that were raised in Saga. There are certain criteria and requirements set by the Japan Agriculture for it to be branded as that. Even though Saga beef isn’t as popular as the world-renowned Kobe beef and Matsusaka beef, it’s just as tender and juicy. While you can get quality Saga beef anywhere else in Japan, at Kira Honten, you’ll be guaranteed the freshest slices of Saga beef at a cheaper cost! Have the highest grade of Saga beef prepared shabu shabu style — which is the most popular cooking method at this specialty Saga beef restaurant — or you can also have them as steak.
