Restaurant Details
Orange light filters through the gaps of its noren-clad entrance, casting a warm glow in the darkness. Silence envelops the space, punctuated only by the occasional murmur of approval as the white-uniformed chef welcomes you to his intimate six-seat counter.
Welcome to Kappo Kisuwo, a cozy restaurant in Sapporo that defies the chill of the city with its warm hospitality and heartfelt menu featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced primarily from Hokkaido.
The menu at Kappo Kisuwo evolves with the seasons, ensuring a fresh and exciting dining experience with each visit. Past offerings include steamed sushi adorned with ginkgo nuts, chestnuts, and tiger prawns, or a comforting soup featuring matsutake mushrooms, egg tofu, and mugwort. Other dishes might include fig and green beans with sesame miso and the exquisite corn tofu crafted from Yoshino kudzu. The chef also uses eggs from branded chickens such as the Nagoya Cochin and Plymouth Rock from Shintoku. The meal culminates with a clay pot rice dish, highlighting the best of Hokkaido’s flavors. For dessert, indulge in seasonal fruits and the chef's signature homemade pudding, made with rare blue Araucana eggs.
The atmosphere of Kappo Kisuwo and the chef’s hospitality make it an extraordinary dining experience. Despite its small size, choose from a diverse selection of sake, wine and beer to complement your meal.
