Jiki Miyazawa
Don’t judge the book by its cover – the simplistic presentation of the dishes at this Kyoto restaurant does not define their true flavors.
Restaurant Details
This famous restaurant is conveniently located by Nishiki Market, known as the “Kitchen of Kyoto.” Jiki Miyazawa offers fine Kyoto kaiseki cuisine prepared by the basics of the true Kyoto-style kaiseki dining. Unlike other kaiseki restaurants where the dishes are extravagantly presented, Jiki Miyazawa’s kaiseki dishes are simplistic in terms of their appearance. Don’t let that fool you though, because their flavors are out of this world.
With each bite of every dish at this Kyoto kaiseki restaurant, you’ll uncover the elaborate techniques of preparation put into it that bring out the most of the natural flavors of each seasonal ingredient. The most famous dish of Jiki Miyazawa is the goma-dofu, which is a sesame tofu dish. While it may look simple and give off the impression that it is prepared simply, that’s not the case at all. Made with fried sesame tofu as well as salt and honey sauce sprinkled with sesame seeds, the fragrance and flavors will burst in your mouth, sending sparks across your taste buds. The same is true for all of the dishes at Jiki Miyazawa.
Everything from the kaiseki cuisine to the “omotenashi” — which refers to the hospitality of the restaurant — is tip-top perfection. Jiki Miyazawa is one to include in your visit to the ancient capital city of Japan.
