Follow the droves of local fans to one of the best teppanyaki grill houses in Tokyo, run by an expert husband and wife team.

Restaurant Details

Hakushu Teppanyaki is a family-run restaurant just south of Shibuya Station which more than holds its own against the chain giants which have all but taken over the industry. In fact, this restaurant thrives due to its stellar reputation among locals.

It’s been serving up fantastic, high-grade wagyu beef on cooked teppanyaki metal griddle pans for almost 80 years! These days you’ll find the husband and wife owners both manning the grills, flipping and shuffling to get the right amount of heat throughout all of the premium ingredients.

This is a fantastic place to sample authentic Kobe black wagyu — one of the best beef varieties in the world Premium Kobe beef is the main order of the day, but you’ll also have a great range of seafood and vegetables to choose from too.

Although you can land a seat at other yakiniku restaurants fairly easily, the boutique, small-time nature of this local favorite means that reservations are essential.
