Bona Festa
Other Western / European
Experience one-of-a-kind French-style Russian cuisine with the occasional Japanese twist.
Restaurant Details
It's not every day a French-style Russian restaurant opens up in town. Bona Festa blesses the people of Tokyo with its fairly affordable fine dining of Russian cuisine — partly the reason it is extremely popular among locals from all around the country, with the other part being its extremely delicious tastes and dimensions of flavors.
Their course menus include a soup that changes with the season — expect pine mushroom soup in autumn, for example. Some dishes include locally-sourced ingredients, like Japanese shore fish and Matsutake mushrooms, as an appreciative nod towards Japanese cuisine, though the culinary techniques are all firmly Russian. The Russian soft hamburger is extremely popular as well as the cabbage roll that's been stewed for five hours before being boiled in tomato sauce.
A rarity in the food scene in not just Tokyo but the whole of Japan, Bona Festa is definitely a must-visit for an extraordinary dining experience.
