Akihabara Sushi Kamimura
An Akihabara omakase sushi hideaway with a hidden Michelin pedigree, where fresh sushi is crafted and served at a traditional L-shaped counter.
Restaurant Details
Formerly an offshoot of a famed tempura restaurant that once held a Michelin star for eight years, this Akihabara omakase sushi restaurant has since renamed itself Akihabara Sushi Kamimura — no longer even carrying the name of its forebear — but continues to proudly carry on the same reputation for craftsmanship and dedication to excellence.
Using ingredients that are purchased from local markets every morning, the chefs at Kamimura devise course menus that masterfully bring together traditional kaiseki dishes and Edomae-style nigiri, masterfully served at a traditional L-shaped counter.
Each nigiri is perfect, with every one made in traditional Edomae style, using aged fish — all naturally fished, not raised in farms — as well as the expertly cooked rice dressed with red vinegar, and seaweed from the Ariake Sea.
All this magic takes place in a calm space directly outside Akihabara Station, high above the bustle of the crowd, where guests at the 12-seat counter can see the sushi courses crafted right before their eyes.
