Vegetarians, rejoice! This sushi-making class is perfect for you. Learn the Japanese art of sushi with local instructors during your trip to Ninomiya near Mt. Fuji. You’ll get to choose from three types of sushi:
1. Vegetarian nigiri and maki zushi: sushi balls topped with tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet) and rolled sushi made with veggies like decoratively sliced carrots, sweet peppers, sweet corn, and ginkgo nuts (depending on the season).
2. Vegetarian chirashi zushi: a popular Japanese party food consisting of sushi rice topped with avocado, nori (dried seaweed), renkon (lotus root), vibrant red ginger, and mitsuba (a Japanese herb) when in season.
3. Vegetarian kazari inari: a version of inari zushi that consists of a sweet fried tofu pocket filled with sushi rice and some veggies decoratively placed on top.
All three courses include miso soup made from scratch with vegetarian dashi (soup stock) and other ingredients. Please submit your preference upon booking!
The recipes in this class are easy to replicate at home, as the ingredients are simple and readily available. Your seasoned instructor will teach you the techniques of preparing Japanese sushi at home, from making perfectly seasoned sushi rice to preparing many toppings and filling options.
