Serene views of Mt. Fuji and the blue waters of Suruga, Japan's deepest bay, provide a picture-perfect backdrop to Shizuoka's lush green tea fields, where some of the finest tea in the country is harvested.
And since sushi and tea are an excellent combination, Shizuoka’s Uotake Sushi restaurant, which has a history of over 50 years, welcomes you for an omakase dining experience in which a sushi chef and a chashi tea master craft a beautiful pairing of fresh nigiri with several kinds of tea.
The specialized knowledge of the tea master ensures the perfect balance of flavors by blending teas that go well with specific kinds of fish. Enjoy black tea, yabukita green tea, hojicha (roasted green tea), and matcha sourced from the Kawane area in Shizuoka. Tea cocktails are also a fixture on the menu.
But tea blending isn’t the only star of the show. This omakase sushi dining experience includes 10 pieces of nigiri sushi made with fresh cuts from fish selected in the local market each morning. An interpreter will be present to ensure smooth communication with the chef.
