Experience Details
There is perhaps no better place to learn about making sushi than Tsukiji. Once home to Tokyo’s most famous fish market, Tsukiji is also conveniently located near Ginza and Tokyo Tower, and the district’s bustling streets provide the perfect convergence of traditional Japanese culture and modernity. While the Tsukiji wholesale market famously moved to Toyosu in 2018, the area’s Outer Market is still the go-to place for everything from seafood to melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef, making Tsukiji one of Tokyo’s most salient culinary hubs.
Let a sushi master welcome you into the fascinating world of sushi in this private class in Tsukiji. Using only the freshest ingredients and authentic utensils from the market, you’ll try to make sushi, an activity both educational and fun that brings you closer to Japanese food culture.
First, you’ll learn about the history of sushi with fun trivia that will put your knowledge to the test before getting hands-on in making sushi. Next, your host will demonstrate how to make sushi step by step, teaching you how to make both nigiri and maki rolls. After going over the basics, you’ll feel confident to try sushi-making. You’ll make four different types of nigiri sushi and maki sushi using delicious seafood sourced from the market directly.
After all the cooking comes the fun part — enjoying your deliciously fresh sushi.
