During this overnight experience, you'll immerse in traditional Japanese life by taking part in activities like wearing kimono, dining on vegetarian Shojin cuisine, and morning meditations.
Just a 3-hour bus ride from central Tokyo, Minobusan welcomes guests to experience ways of life in the Japanese mountains. After evening check-in, you'll get to experience the first of many fantastic vegetarian meals, made by and for the monks of Kakurinbo, just twenty minutes from your lodgings. Kakurinbo also hosts private festivals on clear nights, where you’ll take in the evening sights and sounds of Japan from a local’s point of view.
Ebisuya is a private villa deep in the mountains, surrounded by lush nature. Built almost 100 years ago, it has been restored to a pristine condition, with luxurious interior features and a distinctly Japanese atmosphere.
Your second day will begin with morning services and yoga at Kuonji Temple, followed by breakfast and a kimono-wearing experience at Kakurinbo.
Enjoy lunch at Farm Cafe Zencho, where you can enjoy veggie-forward local specialties before check out. After lunch, an exclusive washi-paper-making experience awaits guests who choose to add on the Yamaju Washi Paper Shop option, a quick drive from Kakurinbo. Guests can make their own paper to take home, using the same traditional techniques used for making the paper used in Sutra copying by Kakurinbo’s monks.
This 2-day, single-night experience is perfect for anyone looking for an in-depth and immersive temple experience, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
