Experience Details

It's not easy to find vegan restaurants in Japan, but did you know that Buddhist monks have been following a plant-based diet with no animal products for the last 800 years? Buddhist meals (shojin ryori) are delicious, healthy, and naturally vegetarian (and, in some cases, also vegan).

Learn how to make a vegan Buddhist meal in this cooking class with Yuka in her home in Setagaya, Tokyo. Feel the atmosphere of an authentic Japanese kitchen as you cook and chat together! Create a seasonal, multi-dish meal with delicious specialties like grilled tofu, lotus slices, soup, and a vegetable salad. The host can also make this class halal-friendly by not using alcohol in the ingredients (please note that ingredients are not halal-certified).
