Japan is known for its beauty, and the breathtaking terraced rice fields of Akiota in northwestern Hiroshima Prefecture are no exception. Bask in the lush mountain landscapes of the rice fields while learning about Japanese rice from farm to table in this private experience. You'll visit the terraced rice paddies, participate in a Japanese home cooking class, visit a traditional handcrafts workshop and try a delicious taiyaki sweet at a local shop.
Experience flow:
-Your host will pick you up from Hiroshima Station and take you to Akiota by chartered car. You'll be accompanied by a guide-interpreter licensed by the Hiroshima Prefectural Government. Enjoy the view from the window as the landscape changes from urban to rural (~1 h)
-Ini rice terrace tour: Explore the terraced fields of the Ini Rice Terraces (~40 min)
-Cooking lesson: Step into a traditional Japanese townhouse, where you'll make sushi, seasonal vegetable tempura and miso soup using local ingredients and traditional seasonings. Enjoy your delicious lunch in the living room with an awe-inspiring countryside view (~2 h 10 min)
-Visit a traditional Togochi crafts workshop where you can buy handcrafts (~1 h)
- Finish your experience by stopping at a famous taiyaki shop and trying taiyaki (a fish-shaped waffle filled with custard, red bean, sweet potato or another sweet filling) (~30 min)

Meeting Point and Meeting Time
Your host will be waiting in a blue car at the Tourist Taxi Stand in front of Hiroshima Station's North Exit. More detailed information and a Google Maps link will be provided upon booking.
Remarks
Drinks are not included. Beverages can be purchased during a roadstop at Roadside Station Raimu-Togochi before visiting the Ini Rice Terraces of Ini.
Hotel pick-up and drop-off within Hiroshima City center can be arranged upon request. Please inquire directly with the host upon booking.
