You'll start by meeting with your host, an experienced English-speaking chef, at the Osaka Tenmangu Shrine. They will take you on a short tour of their favorite food vendors, where you'll discover the ingredients and products that make Osaka's food scene so unique. With their help, you can ask questions about the food and learn how to choose the best and freshest ingredients. Once shopping is over, you will return to the kitchen to start cooking! Making okonomiyaki and yakisoba from scratch is not just a learning experience but a fun and hands-on one. You'll learn the best way to prepare ingredients and how to properly use a teppan (a Japanese hot iron grill) to cook these famous street foods.
