In this cooking class, you'll learn all about ingredients and techniques from a knowledgeable and friendly cooking host who will teach you about cooking and Japanese culture in an engaging and fun class.
You'll start by meeting with your host, an experienced English-speaking chef, at the Osaka Tenmangu Shrine. They will take you on a short tour of their favorite food vendors, where you'll discover the ingredients and products that make Osaka's food scene so unique. With their help, you can ask questions about the food and learn how to choose the best and freshest ingredients.
Once shopping is over, you will return to the kitchen to start cooking! Your chef will share with you the stories behind okonomiyaki and yakisoba through traditional cooking techniques that have been passed down through generations. Making okonomiyaki and yakisoba from scratch is not just a learning experience but a fun and hands-on one. You'll learn the best way to prepare ingredients and how to properly use a teppan (a Japanese hot iron grill) to cook these famous street foods.
Your chef will make sure to share with you valuable advice and cooking secrets throughout the class! You can try adding different toppings and flavors to customize your dishes.
