Experience Details
Gin owes its sharp and versatile flavor to a distinctive distilling process and multiple possible botanical combinations. In this unique three-hour experience, you’ll tour a local distillery to see how gin is made, taste different kinds of gin, and even make your own with botanicals of your choice. After your spirit-making efforts, you’ll enjoy two cocktails paired with seasonal snacks. A set lunch at a local restaurant is also included in the experience.
Itinerary:
-Arrive at Takasu Distillery and participate in a tour of the facility, where you will learn about gin and see how it is made.
-Taste several varieties of gin at the distillery’s bar.
-Learn about botanicals and how they affect gin flavors.
-Enjoy a Japanese teishoku set lunch at a local restaurant (several options available).
-Make gin by choosing from an assortment of botanicals. Then, taste it to see how it turned out!
-Enjoy two cocktails with a selection of seasonal snacks.
-Take home a few bottles of your original gin!
Takasu Distillery can be reached in 30 minutes by taxi from Asahikawa Station. Asahikawa, Hokkaido’s second-largest city after Sapporo, is a lush, rural city crossed by clear rivers and enclosed by mountains. Packed with attractions and activities, Ashikawa hosts a yearly winter festival with eye-catching ice sculptures and is home to a distinct, hearty ramen aptly named Asahikawa ramen.
