Experience Details
Clear, sharp, and aromatic, gin is an unusually versatile spirit: with no set quantities or proportions, the singular flavors of each gin kind depend on the botanicals, spices, and fruits used to infuse it. This means you can find quintessentially Japanese notes, like sansho pepper, yuzu, or even cherry blossoms, in Japanese gin. Many craft distilleries have popped up in recent years to keep the country in high spirits — among them is the Takasu Distillery in Asahikawa, Hokkaido!
In this experience, you will tour the Takasu Distillery, see the gin-making process, and enjoy a gin-tasting experience at the distillery bar. Asahikawa, the second largest city in the Northern Japanese island of Hokkaido, is widely rural and lush, crossed by clear rivers and blanketed with heavy snows in winter. The pure waters, herbs, plants, and fruits sourced from the area give unique notes to Takasu's original gin, which you can try during the experience.
