Temari sushi are a playful, kawaii take on sushi — perfectly round rice balls decorated with colorful toppings, they are loved by adults and kids alike for their delicate presentation and fresh taste. Temari is a beloved and nostalgic Japanese folk toy that originated centuries ago when thread was wrapped around scraps of leftover kimono fabric to make little balls for children to play with. With time, temari developed into more complex patterns and shapes, becoming a prized craft, and even inspiring this cute version of sushi.
In this beginner-friendly, 2-hour experience, you will gain an understanding of the basics of temari sushi, and then get hands-on forming the rice balls and decorating them with precut sushi toppings.
